May 8, 2020
Tired of chasing up deadlines, especially the urgent ones? I bet you are.
Wondering how to meet the deadlines with the perfect outputs? I bet you are.
The key to successfully nailing it is to turn the deadlines into your friend. Sounds impossible? With these 5 tips, you can easily conquer any deadlines that come to you!
1. Prioritize the tasks
Prioritize the tasks following 2 categories: importance and urgency. By doing this, you will know what to do first, second and so on. For example, the urgent and important task should be done first, following by those tasks which are important but less urgent. For those urgent but not important tasks, delegate it if it’s possible or do it quickly with less effort. You can leave the less urgent and least important tasks to do later.
You can also refer to the following matrix, which is designed by Dwight D. Eisenhower – 34th president of United State for time management idea (Source: https://www.eisenhower.me/eisenhower-matrix/)
2. Plan your work and divide the tasks into sub-tasks
Dividing the task into sub-categories and assigning deadlines to each part will make it easy for you to follow the whole process steps by steps. This will also avoid letting the grass grow under your feet.
3. Be a team player
At NashTech, you’re not alone, you have your co-workers, the beloved Nashers. Be a team player so that people can support you and vice versa to conquer the deadlines. Because you cannot keep things under control all the time.
4. Keep calm, don’t be panic and DO NOT check your clock every 10 seconds
Even if the deadline is 5 minutes away, don’t be panic. And, checking up on the clock every 10 seconds won’t do. Keep yourself calm. Otherwise, you’ll be messed up since you don’t know where to start, what to do and worse, rushing to finish the task might turn it into a sloppy work. Setting the alarm two or three times before the deadline is a good idea to make sure that you are aware of the leftover time and have a chance to check the work once again before submitting.
5. Be meticulous and precise
Pay attention to every detail unless you want to miss any part or information of the work. Even if it’s urgent, spend some minutes to double check everything and make sure that every piece is delivered. Always remember what doesn’t break you, makes you more productive!
